A message from the mens captain
Hope this finds you all well,
We have just enjoyed our 2nd ever HERC RR10, which was muddy but fun and very good training.
For those of you who don’t know the RR10 league is a series of races organised by running clubs in south-west Hampshire for their members.
The races are held on Wednesday evenings during the spring and summer. Entry is free.
All of the races are 4-5 miles off-road. The standard of runners varies from 5-minute milers to 12+ minute milers so, however fast you are, there will always be someone to run with.
While it is preferred that you wear your HERC vest, for those without please wear a red t-shirt/top.
The RR10 3rd instalment is on Wednesday 22nd May @ Wilverley, Sway & the race starts at 7.30pm.
There has been car share assistance at Hedge End railway station or alternatively meeting point at the red HERC flag near the starting line. RR10 Wilverley car park, Sway is 36 minutes from Hedge End, so for those offering, sharing lifts or just would like to travel together we are meeting at 6.15pm at Hedge End Rail station for car sharing, for a 6.20pm set off.
It is a proven fact that you run faster/harder and train better while having some racing focuses while doing these types of events. It is fun and the buzz of representing your running club is something very special. Lastly but not least the more racing experiences and exposure you give yourself the better equipt, the better running trained and the more confident you become. A real no brainer!!
We are also very proud of the great early racing efforts of & just to name a few fast racers: Stephen Kivlochan, Alex Johnson, Mick Chappell, Charlie Cooper, Ben Turley, Gavin Rampton, Neil Heslop & Owen Davies who have all become much faster and very confident speedy runners and HERC racing team members who are becoming inspirations to us all. I’m more than certain that all of the above would be delighted to share their speedy tips or alternatively I can speak to Bernie Dutton our amazing Coaching Director for your suggestions on bespoke training advice etc.
I am happy to try and answer any of your questions or queries and I will be at training on Tuesday & Thursday.
We hopefully like to see you race and join in with our racing fun for your running club.
Please could you email me on firstname.lastname@example.org if you are “definitely” or “potentially” wanting to race on Wednesday 22nd May.

PS we even go for team bonding post running race drink in a local pub near the race full of other club runners.
