On Saturday 11th October we will be holding our first Celebration Evening at Botley Market Hall, from 8.00pm.
This will be a chance to socialise with others from the club and celebrate some of the successes the club has had over the past year.  Medals for the RR10 and SXCL will be given out, as well as Pentathlon Awards and some fun awards which will be voted for shortly.

We will also be holding a raffle for The Rainbow Centre on the evening - we have some prizes already, but more are welcomed. Please contact Ali Morant if you are able to help with this. 

If you are a new member it will be a great opportunity to learn more about the club and meet more running friends!

1) You can prove anything with a few statistics!
2) The increase in both ladies (72%) and men (54%) who appeared at some time
or other in 2014 compared to 2013 is testimony to the growth of the club and
the encouragement to many of these new members to have a go at RR10 running.
This is surely the most important and encouraging feature and endorsed by
all the positive comments that have been made verbally or in writing after
events.
3) The relative newness of the club and the volatility in these early years
is demonstrated by the small number of those members who actually achieved
an overall place in both years (Ladies 2 and Men 3).   4) 3 ladies achieved
a top 50 overall place in 2013, but only Jo Labram re-appeared sufficiently
in 2014 to repeat that feat.  But in 2014 4 ladies achieved a top 50 overall
place.
5) 6 men achieved a top 100 overall place in 2013, but none repeated that
feat in 2014 due to either not running sufficient races or not competing at
all.  None of the 5 men who achieved a top 100 place in 2014 ran sufficient
races for a true overall place (6 races or more) in 2013.
6) The increase in numbers was replicated, obviously, by the number of
occasions when more complete teams finished events in 2014.  The ladies (3
to score) managed 7 teams on one occasion and as many as 5 teams on 6
occasions: the men (5 to score) on one occasion in 2013 only managed 1 full
team, whereas in 2014 only failed to field 4 full teams at 2 of 9 events.
7) The growth in members and the numbers who competed was not reflected, but
perhaps not surprisingly given the volatility of those who represented the
club, by significant improvements in overall team    positions year on year.
However, the overall result of the Ladies A team was hugely affected by one
poor result (21st event 3,) but for which they would have almost certainly
have finished 4th or 5th in the overall standings and not 8th (2013 9th=)
as they did do.  The men's A team overall position of 15 was unchanged from
2013 and did not suffer from any one single "bad day at the office" this
summer.

Claire Powell was awarded the member / performance of the month award for July.  Claire has had a 'fairly' busy last few weeks winning the womens 10K in Southampton, helping to organise the Hamble Games, entering various other Tri's and running events and cycling from John o' Groats to Lands End.  Well done Claire!
