Hedgies cross the Solent

10/2/2020

Many congratulations to the 38 Hedgies who completed the Ryde 10 HRRL race this morning. Happy to be corrected but that has to be a record HERC turnout for our annual 'overseas' trip.

And many thanks to the numerous supporters who made the trip too - always helps lift the spirits, particularly on tough courses like Ryde.

Conditions were good once again, albeit a little gusty in places. Here are the provisional results:
http://www.rydeharriers.co.uk/re…/ryde_10miles_results_2020/

Not known as a PB race, but do let us know if you got one! I'm certainly aware of some excellent course PBs.

And many thanks to Tracy for organising all the travel arrangements once again, made it so easy for the rest of us.

2017/18 HRRL Races

2/7/2017

The AGM of the Hampshire Road Race League was held on Monday the 26th of June. The main item on the agenda was the selection of the road races for the 2017/18 season. There were 14 events on the short list that needed to be reduced to 12. The two new events on the list this year were the Fleet ½ Marathon and the Fleet 10K. The Fleet ½ Marathon is scheduled for the 18th March 2018, the same day as the Eastleigh 10K so if there was a preference for the Fleet ½ Marathon, the Eastleigh 10K would not be part of the league next year. Voting took place and there was overwhelming support for maintaining the current races, so Fleet will not form part of the league next year.

HRRL Fixtures 2017/18
3rd September 2017 - Overton 5 Mile
24th September 2017 - Solent Half Marathon
19th November 2017 - Gosport Half Marathon
26th November 2017 - Hayling 10 Mile
3rd December 2017 - Victory 5 Mile
14th January 2018 - Stubbington 10K
4th February 2018 - Ryde 10 Mile
18th March 2018 - Eastleigh 10K
Date to be decided - Salisbury 10 Mile
6th or 13th May 2018 - Alton 10 Mile
20th May 2018 - Netley 10K
10th June 2018 - Lordshill 10K

It was also confirmed that the annual Road Race Relay, which incorporates the Hampshire Road Relay Championships will take place at Lakeside North Harbour in Cosham and will follow the same format as last year. After two years with an April date this year’s relay will take place on the 10th September 2017. The relay is open to all members with teams consisting of 3 runners. Each runner will run 2 laps of 2.38km.  Clubs can enter as many teams as they like and there will be age-group prizes up to M60 & F60. There will also be an under-11 race before the main race gets under way. Details of the race and an application form are on the Hampshire Athletics website.

The final race of this season's Hampshire Road Race League was held in near perfect running conditions today. Many thanks to Lordshill Road Runners for putting on a great race - the first time that this 10K has featured as a league race.
There was a great turn out from Hedge End - well done to all the runners and supporters that travelled down the M27 to the Ordnance Survey being used as race HQ.  .
There's been a slight blip with the results, however provisional results as published at the moment are as follows:

Another warm one at Royal Victoria Country Park yesterday for round 11 of this season's Hampshire Road Race League. Many thanks to all Hedgies that entered the race or turned up to support the club and the runners. Thanks also to Southampton AC and all the marshals.

The Hedgie ladies had 18 finishers and the men had 20, so a great turn out for another sold out race!

Provisional race results for all those that entered with their club as Hedge End Running Club are as follows...

An HRRL update will be posted, when the league results are updated.

2016/17 HRRL Race 10 - Alton 10M - May 7th, 2017

10/5/2017

Well done to all Hedgie runners and supporters that went to the Alton 10 on Sunday. Perfect running conditions and (as always) a great race provided by our friends at Alton Runners saw several 10 Mile PB's achieved.
Plenty of parking, fantastic organisation, excellent marshalling, lots of support, a lovely route around the countryside... what more could you want from a road race?

This was round 10 of the 2016/17 Hampshire Road Race League.
Our Ladies A team were placed 5th and our B Team were in 10th place. Unfortunately we were short of a C team. After 10 races, the Ladies A are in 3rd place in Division 1 and the Ladies B are in 4th place in Division 1 of the B League. The Ladies C team are in 11th place in Division 1 of the B League
The Men's A team finished in 2nd place in Division 2. The B team were placed 5th in Division 1 of the B League and the C team were 10th in Division 1 of the B League. Following these results, after 10 races the A team remain in 1st place in Division 2, the B Team are in 3rd place and the C team are in 13th place.

With two races to go, good team performances at Netley 10K and Lordshill 10K could see HERC claim several trophies.

Race 9 of 12 in the Hampshire Road Race League was held at the Hendy Ford Eastleigh 10K. Another good weather day for spring running and a flat course made for some fast times and many PB's for Hedgie runners.

Another great showing by Hedge End Running Club members ensured that that once again the club had full Men's and Ladies A, B & C teams in the HRRL with several members featuring in the teams for the first time.

Provisional Results...

Well done also to the many other club members that ran in the race and a special mention to the graduates from the January Beginners Course that were set running in this race as their goal and rose magnificently to the challenge, many stepping massively outside of their comfort zone..

Race 10 in the series is the Alton 10 on Sunday the 8th of May 2016.
